Welcome to Anning Class - Year 4
Welcome to Year 4's page.
We hope you enjoy exploring our learning as much as we have.
Reading Diaries
Please make sure the children have their reading diaries and reading books in school every day. Children can bring their own reading books into school or choose from our own vast selection of books in class. An adult will read with your child at least once per week during small group guided reading sessions. The children should now be recording their own reading in their reading diary as well as when they read to you. The following website has some recommended texts for Year 4 children.

PE Days
PE days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please can your child come to school in their PE kit on these days. PE uniform is a red or white t-shirt; black, navy blue or grey tracksuit bottoms or leggings; a red school hoodie, school jumper or plain red jumper and trainers. Any child in non-uniform sportswear will be asked to remove it and will be provided with a plain t-shirt. A water bottle is also recommended.
Homework
Each half term, our child will be given a project to do based around one of our topics. The children can choose from a list of suggested idea before presenting their findings to the rest of the class. More details about the first Romans project will follow.
Spellings: Weekly homework consists of 10 spellings to be learned for a Friday application task.
Times Tables: As the children are working towards the government multiplication check at the end of the year we will be focusing lots on timetables in class. We will do a weekly application activity on a Friday. We would encourage the children to practise using Times Tables Rockstars regularly at home and we will be monitoring this in school. More details about the check will follow but for now please practise little and often, ensuring all children are secure in the 2,5,10 and the 3, 4 and 8 times tables as these have been taught in previous year groups.

We have enjoyed lots of festive activities this week. We hope to see these decorations hanging on our trees at home soon.
Well done to everyone for their Science research projects based on electricity. I think we have some engineers and stem students in the making.
We practised our key skill of conducting a fair test to investigate which materials were conductors and insulators. Is the human body a conductor or insulator?
