Year 5 Ancient Egypt Day

From Pharaohs and Cleopatra to the God of Mummification Anubis, Year 5 had a fantastic end to the week as they took part in an Ancient Egyptian themed day at school. During the day the children, who all came dressed in character, were able to learn about the different layers of Egyptian society, the process of mummification and what daily life was like in Egypt as well as handle and explore and investigate artefacts from the period. To finish the morning the children took part on a spice smelling session where they were exposed to the sights and smells of Ancient Egypt. In the afternoon, the children were the key players in a role play where they deepened their understanding of the how Egyptians paid tribute to their dead rulers through different rituals. A fabulous day which not only helped cement our understanding of the topic but was also fantastic fun!
